This week end The Mondays Beavers had their first outing of the year. We went to visit the Castletown House in Celbridge. We did a guided tour of the house and every Beavers were dressed up in old clothes `provided by the staff. They absolutely loved it. Out guide Stephen was very good and was full of little anecdotes about the house itself and also people that lived it it, the Connolly Family or Lady Louisa.
After a well-deserved lunch, we went off on a nature trail around the grounds, each Beavers equipped with a map. On the map, were indicated the location of several type of trees that the Beavers had to find. What a lovely day for a bit of orienteering!
Back to the Den in Dunboyne, it was time for the Beavers to have a bit of time off before they could finally devour their well-deserved treat, pizza and chips in front of a movie.
Back outside, we all gathered around the camp fire with Sarah, our camp fire chief for the night, to sing songs and have some fun. Camp fires are really special events for Beaver scouts and the camp fire was not an exception, they all had a ball!
But this evening was going to be over just yet. We made the most of the camp fire and had some grilled marshmallow. Some beavers were looking forward to that one I can tell you! After that we decided to get our head torches on and we all went for a night hike in the forest! Our Beavers were all very brave and demonstrated they they all have a lot of character.
Now after all that, it was finally time to get back to the Den and get into our comfy sleeping bags for a well-deserved rest.
Fabulous week end overall, all Beavers were fantastic, especially our new Beavers that really embraced the new experience.
