Scouts Complete their CSA with a day of Environmental Volunteering 🌱🪏

For most TY students, the Halloween mid-term break means taking a break from "schoolwork". However, for our intrepid group of CSA Scouts, now Ventures, there was one final challenge to complete before they could finish their Scouts Chief Scout Award (CSA): six hours of environmental volunteer work!

On Tuesday, our Scouts rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into a major clean-up and improvement project around the outside of the Scout Den. Ably supported by Leaders Helen Lonergan, Quartermaster Philip Flood, Dave Brown and General Labourer Dermot Walsh. The crew set to work at 11:30am and kept going right through until 5:30pm.

There was plenty of hard graft involved throughout the day. The team removed ivy, prepared and planted wildflower beds, and even gave a couple of old kayaks a new lease of life by repurposing them as flower beds at the front entrance to the Den. Their efforts have helped brighten up the area and create a more welcoming entrance for everyone who visits.

It was a fantastic example of teamwork, community spirit and environmental responsibility in action. Everyone put in a serious shift, showing that scouting is about much more than adventure and outdoor activities. It is also about giving something back to the community and making a positive difference.

A huge well done to Elijah, Ali, Ava, Sadhbh, Lucy, Rachel, Erin, Faye and Isabelle on completing your CSA!

You have every reason to be proud of yourselves. Your hard work, commitment and willingness to get stuck in have made a real difference to our Scout Den.
