Scouts Autumn Camp 2026 ⛺

Battle..!!! That was the theme of the Autumn Scout Camp 2026. After battling heavy traffic on the M50 and torrential rain on Friday evening, the weather cleared and stayed dry for the remainder of the camp.

Despite the challenging conditions, the new Patrol and Assistant Patrol Leaders showed great leadership, helping the new scouts pitch their tipis and dining shelters in the dark. The bright Saturday morning revealed that the camp was set up impressively well.

Saturday's activities saw the scouts split into two groups. One group built rafts while the other constructed catapults. Once both were ready, the battle began, with water balloons flying through the air as rafts paddled to safety. After lunch, the groups swapped roles and revenge sought, with several direct hits and two rafts successfully reaching the pontoon in the middle of the lake.
Dinner was, as always, cooked by the scouts and enjoyed by both scouts and leaders alike. The evening concluded with a fantastic campfire led by the Ventures, followed by some stargazing under the clear skies.

After a chilly night, Sunday morning brought pancakes, eggy bread, and a well-organised pack-up. The Patrol Leaders and senior scouts once again demonstrated excellent leadership in helping the newer members.
The Autumn Camp is designed to introduce new scouts to scouting life and give young leaders valuable experience. By that measure, this year's camp was a great success, even if the quartermaster forgot a few essential tent accessories!
