Bray Adventure & Overnight Camp 🦫
What an amazing weekend for our Monday Beavers! 🦫👏
On Saturday the 17th of October, 24 Beavers and 7 Scouters set off from Dunboyne, travelling by multiple trains on their adventure to Bray. There was excitement from the very beginning as the group made their way towards the seaside and a day packed with challenges, fun and plenty of memories.
1 / 10On arrival in Bray, we took a stroll along the promenade, where the Beavers wasted no time getting stuck into some stone-skimming competitions along the shore. With the sea air in their lungs and plenty of energy to burn, it was soon time for the main event: Bray Head!

The Beavers took on the climb with incredible determination, marching straight up the hill and leaving some of the adults in their wake! 💪 They reached the summit to be rewarded with a clear day and spectacular views overlooking the entire area. A well-earned lunch at the top gave everyone a chance to refuel before we got stuck into some emergency survival skills.
1 / 11The team worked on building an emergency shelter designed to accommodate eight adults. But with a little Beaver ingenuity and teamwork, we managed to squeeze the entire group inside! A fantastic practical lesson in survival, problem-solving and making the most of what you have.
1 / 12Then came the scramble back down the hill! Once safely at the bottom, we returned to the beach for another round of stone-skimming competitions. A brief stop at the playground followed, although this was very nearly upstaged by a visit to the ice cream parlour! 🍦
1 / 18Our return journey by train brought an unexpected highlight. A friendly train inspector entertained the Beavers for a full 30 minutes, answering all manner of questions and keeping them thoroughly engrossed. Curiosity was certainly in full swing!
But the adventure wasn't over yet. On arrival back at Dunboyne train station, the Beavers faced one final challenge: hiking all the way back to the scout den. By this stage, they had well and truly earned their dinner, and the pizzas, chips and all the extras disappeared in minutes! 🍕🍟
After a short review of the day's adventures, it was time to get into pyjamas and settle down for a movie. What could be more fitting after a day by the sea than Finding Nemo? 🐠
1 / 3A few little Beavers took a while to switch off after such an exciting day, but eventually, peace descended and everyone was snoring away!
Sunday morning brought an early start, with everyone helping to pack up before sitting down to a hearty breakfast. Then, all too soon, it was time to hand our tired but happy Beavers back into their parents' arms.
A Weekend to Remember
From train journeys and seaside fun to conquering Bray Head, learning survival skills, sharing meals and spending the night together, this was a weekend full of adventure, achievement and laughter.
Most importantly, the Beavers showed fantastic teamwork, resilience, curiosity and determination throughout. They challenged themselves, supported one another and made memories that will last long after the muddy boots have been cleaned and the sleeping bags put away.
An amazing weekend with an amazing group of young people! 🦫💚
A very special thank you to all 7 Scouters who generously donated their weekend to make this experience possible for our Monday Beavers. These adventures simply wouldn't happen without your time, energy, commitment and enthusiasm.
👏👏 Thank you all for making it such a memorable weekend!
