Dunboyne Scouts join JOTI – 📻🎧🌎

Dunboyne Beavers Go Global: Connecting with Scouts from Dnipro, Ukraine at JOTI!

This past weekend, our Dunboyne Beaver Scouts embarked on an incredible global adventure without even leaving our den! We proudly participated in JOTI – Jamboree on the Internet – a fantastic worldwide event that connects Scouts from every corner of the globe.

JOTI is all about bridging distances, sharing experiences, and making new friends, and our Beavers embraced every minute of it.

We connected with a wonderful group of Scouts the “Swifts” of “Scouts of Dnipro“. It was truly special to share an hour of lively conversation and cultural exchange with them. Despite being thousands of miles apart, we found so much common ground and enjoyed learning about each other’s Scouting lives.

Our Beavers were keen to tell their Ukrainian friends all about what we love to do. We shared our favourite games that get us active and laughing, the exciting activities we participate in during our meetings, and how much fun we have on our camps. It was fascinating to hear about their similar experiences and traditions in Scouting.

But the learning went both ways! Our Ukrainian friends were just as enthusiastic about sharing their favorite games and activities, giving us some brilliant new ideas to try out. Perhaps the most fun part was teaching each other some national languages! Our Beavers picked up some Ukrainian phrases, and in return, we taught them some basic Irish words. It was a wonderful way to experience different cultures firsthand and realize that even though we speak different languages, the spirit of Scouting is universal.

It was a powerful reminder that Scouting truly is a global family. Events like JOTI not only teach us about other cultures but also highlight the bonds of friendship and camaraderie that unite young people across borders.

A huge well done to all our Beavers for their enthusiasm, curiosity, and fantastic participation. A big thank you (дякую – dyakuyu) to the Dnipro Scouts for such a meaningful and memorable connection. We hope to see you online again soon!
