County Cubs Skills Day 2026 🪓
On Sunday January 25th, 108 Cubs from across Gleann Na Boinne gathered at Rathoath Scout Den for a County Cubs Skills Day.
The objective of the day was to introduce the Cubs to core Scouting skills including:
Cubs from 1st Meath Dunboyne, Ratoath, Kildalkey, Trim, 1st Meath Navan, 15th Meath Navan, Kentstown, Ashbourne, Dunshaughlin and Kells were in attendance and were supported by Scouters from across the county.
Dunboyne were represented by 15 of our Cubs, Scouters from both Cubs and Scouts Sections. A special thanks to our 2026 Phoenix Team Scouts including Rachel O’Connor, Erin Higgins, Rory Collins and Lucy Brown, who helped run the skills stations throughout the day.
The week building up to the Skills Day had seen torrential levels of rain, so it was a relief to all, to wake up on Sunday morning to a relatively dry day. However given the epic levels of rain that fell in the previous 24 hours, the ground was very wet and waterlogged. However the that certainly did not hold back our Cubs who really got stuck into the activities and did not let a little bit of mud hold them back.

1 / 8All in all, it was a highly enjoyable day and all Cubs who participated picked up valuable scouting skills that they can bring back and pass on to their fellow Cubs.
Each Cub who attended was also awarded a special Gleann Na Boinne Cub Skills Day Badge to mark their attendance and serve as a recognition of their new found skills.
Finally, a huge thank you our 1st Meath Dunboyne Scouters who generously gave their time and skills to help run the day and make it such a success.
